Meeting Amanda Green!

A day late, and a dollar short I know, but I didn't have the chance to blog yesterday. The lyricist of High Fidelity, Amanda Green, was in the audience Friday night. Meeting her was one of the highlights of my existence. She was fantastic. She loved everything we did with the show, which is great because we love everything she wrote for the show. She is a beautiful woman and I was so grateful to get to meet her. I know I came across like a giggling fangirl, but she didn't seem perturbed by it, in fact, at the height of a squee she told me that I was just the cutest. I could have died of happiness right then. I'm gushing, I know, but it was just so freakin' cool. I will post more about this experience later but I am wanted onstage at church.

And a sidenote, it is entirely too early to be awake after a cast party. Yikes.

Peace, love, and rock 'n' roll,
Amanda

I would kill for a slab of bacon...

It is now Tuesday, June 24th and we are halfway through our run of High Fidelity. So far things have been amazing! We actually managed to sell out on Saturday which was incredibly exciting and we've got some pretty decent pre-sale going for the rest of the run.

The more and more we do this show the more I realize just how much fun it is. We've run this show so many times and I still laugh during "Conflict Resolution" and rock out backstage during "Goodbye and Good Luck." That, in my opinion, is the sign of a good show; you don't get sick of it. I'm actually finding myself sad that we only get to do it six more times. I guess I'll try to look at it glass half-full, we still have six whole performances we get to do.

I auditioned for Hair yesterday, and I think it went pretty well. Hopefully Hi-Fi will not be my last New Line experience. I have had such an amazing time during this show and I hope it will continue.

Peace, love and rock 'n' roll,
Amanda

High Fidelity Withdrawal

Forgive me Father for I have sinned, it has been two days since my last Hi-Fi show.

It is one thirty in the morning on Tuesday. I am sitting at my computer contemplating ways to make the next few days go faster. The first weekend of High Fidelity was amazing. I am so honoured to get to work with this cast and crew. They are an amazing group of people and I feel so blessed to have fallen in with them. Every time I get to perform with them it is an absolute joy. And therein lies the problem. Am I really expected to go Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday without doing this show? The fact is that sadly, yes, I am expected to last four days without Hi-Fi, and without the incredible energy that pours off the stage during the show.

So, fellow cast members, when you see me on Thursday I may appear to be but a hollow shell of my former self. But not to worry, I assure you that it will only take the first few chords of "Last Real Record Store" for me to be returned to my normal self. Until then,
Peace, love and rock 'n' roll,
Amanda

In Space

First rehearsal in the space tomorrow!!! Woo hoo!! It's going to mean a lot of adjusting but all in all I think that it will actually help us with the show. I think that getting in the performance space will get us more into the mood of the show, and it will bring it home to us that we're nearing opening night. (June 12th is quickly approaching people!!) I'll try and post again tomorrow after we've worked in the theatre.

Peace, love and rock 'n' roll,
Amanda

Sexy Ladies

Tomorrow we start running the show. I'm excited. We had our dance review today at Leaping Lizards and things went pretty well. We have some damn sexy ladies in this show, let me tell you. We really rocked it out this afternoon, and I'm sure we will do the same tomorrow night. I can't wait.

Peace, love and rock 'n' roll,

Ready to rock 'n' roll.

Well, everything is now officially blocked and choreographed. Unfortunately I was unable to be at today's choreography rehearsal, (boo) because of a previous gig that I, long story short, thought was on Mother's Day, but obviously it was not. I will therefore be learning the dances from the other lovely exes. I'm super thrilled that now we get to start running the show. This is my favourite part of any production, when we finally get to see the finished product. Obviously unpolished, and not audience-ready as of yet, but still finished. Hooray!!

Peace, love and rock 'n' roll,
Amanda

"Nine Percent Chance"

So, I got to see the "Millerography" for "Nine Percent Chance of Your Love" last night and it is so cute! All the boys dancing around...it was so freakin' adorable. If all goes well, that song will have the chance to bring the house down, the guys are just so into it!! I just love it.

Peace, love and rock 'n' roll,
Amanda

The Last Real Record Store On Earth

Tonight we blocked the opening number of the show. It was really fun! Most of the time we just get to rock out and dance, which I love. We also ran the choreography for "Desert Island Top 5 Breakups" and "She Goes," and I think we all remembered it better than we thought we would!

The only bummer is that I think I'm coming down with a cold. Hopefully it won't be too bad and won't put my voice out of commission. I'd better start hitting the Vitamin C!

The exes had our first dance rehearsal yesterday. Woo hoo!! I absolutely love Robin's choreography, it's perfect. And the other girls, well, let's just say this, they made me feel like I was extraordinarily awkward, that's how good they were. Of course, if you've been reading Scott's blog, you'll know that we did all this without Liz, who sings lead on "She Goes." However, I have been informed that we now have a Liz, and she is someone I'm very excited about. I don't know her personally, but I know her husband and if she is half as cool as he is, we're going to have a blast. We have another music rehearsal tonight, so I'll probably write about that later.
Peace, love and rock 'n' roll,
Amanda

Inaugural Post

Ah, my first post on my High Fidelity Blog. Very exciting stuff, people. We've already had our first two rehearsals and I am already super hyped for this show. We've got an amazing cast assembled and I am so thrilled about that. The Exes have been working on a couple of songs that we sing back-up on and I must say I am mightily impressed by all of the ladies involved. And through some divine intervention or just fate, we actually sound good as a group. Woo hoo! So, if you can't tell, I'm really excited about this show. I'll be posting on here pretty regularly so check back and find out what I'm excited about next time!
